This chapter kinda ties with Chapter 14 - Lord, Move Me into the Purpose for which I was Created). Much of this chapter also reflects the revolution occurring at my church - Revolution des Amoureux de Dieu (Revolution of God's lovers ..?); my pastor has been preaching a lot about asking and inquiring God's will at all times and that the prayer of a true lover starts with
" Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done on EARTH as it is in HEAVEN"
just like Jesus has taught us to pray. As lovers, we want to please the One we love, not ourselves; we are willing to give up our own selfish desires to fulfill His will in our lives. At times, it might not be easy (point #2) & that is when we ask Him to fill us with His love and allow us to become drunk of His love (when someone is drunk, they do things out of the ordinary, now imagine being drunk of His love!!?!)
Reading this chapter also gave me another sense of peace (in my life), especially with "killing, murdering, shooting" being very popular words in the news nowadays; I know that as long as I am walking in His will (or working on it), I am safe, for "God's will is a place of safety."
The prayer at the end was simply amazing again, from asking God to fill us with His knowledge, to letting Him know that His will, not ours, be done, to asking Him to align our hearts with His, to asking Him to direct our steps. It even concludes with "now" aka lets start aligning our lives with His will. I believe in the power of a prayer and I also believe that things are aligning themselves as each of us prayed this prayer (in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!!)
BeBlessed
Amen!! what I got mostly is that the fact that when we don't feel stretched or uncomfortable in our walk with the Lord, we may not be in His will. Oftentimes feeling stretched/uncomfortable are signs that we are growing.
ReplyDeleteLety and Vannie or anyone else can you please explain to me how you know you are feeling stretched of uncomfortable with your walk with the lord? Often times i do not know if i have any of these signs. I am really working hard to take this journey with the lord but often times temptations come my way and i strive to avoid it but am not going to lie to you ladies sometimes it really overcomes me .
ReplyDeleteHey Nana, you're being stretched when you no longer feel comfortable doing stuff you did before or when God puts new desires on the inside of you. For example, you mentioned in the last post that you used to drink a lot. The fact that you reduced or stopped it is probably because you were no longer comfortable doing it, so you were uncomfortable in that state of your relationship with God and "graduated" to a newer level. Another example, lately I haven't been OK with just going to church but I feel a huge pull to disciple others. I'm no longer comfortable in that state and am being stretched to a new place.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Stormie says "stretched and uncomfortable is a way of life when walking in the will of God", that basically means we are not complacent, but being uncomfortable forces us to reach greater heights and deeper levelz (like the name of the blog :-) Being stretched to these greater heights often takes us out of our comfort place
WOw I really appreciate this chapter because knowing that you're walking with God its more than great. Lety on what you've said that when we feel uncomfortable with certain things in our lives is when we know we've grown. I so agree because I noticed how self concious I am becoming with a lot of things that were bad habits. Although I won't lie for the longest time I've been very scared to serve God, I knew that my life was going to change and I was afraid of doing something wrong and disappoint him, but now like Vanessa said I ask him to make me drunk of his love, spirit, anointment, wisdom and let myself just go with it.
